music, ahhhh, my favourite thing ever. I’m always listening to music, as I’m sure most of us are, I have music in my ears all day every day and the world just feels strangely quiet without any, but my favourite genre is definitely dance/electronic. I love music that is upbeat and happy, I get tired of radio ballads because I want music to make me feel happy and productive, so it’s only understandable that a genre with so many bpm is going to be my favourite. So, I’ve put together this post to show you my favourite dance tracks that you can listen to either for fun, to clean your home with, to work out to or have a dance party on your own or with others.
I’m also going to include a few links to some streams that I like to listen to as well for dance music, we don’t always have to be on Spotify or Apple Music to listen to this genre and others that share a mutual love for it to live broadcasts weekly or daily so we have something to listen to with them! So let’s get started.
My Favourite Tracks
These are the songs that I’ve been listening to the most right now, I’ve added them as YouTube videos so that if you don’t have access to streaming services you can still listen and find some new tunes!
Vitaclub – Stupid Love (Lady Gaga)
Basement Jaxx – Red Alert
Tchami – SIAW
CRi – Me and my Friends
My Spotify Dance Party
If you’re not one for skipping from YouTube videos then I’ve also got a Spotify Playlist called Gee’s Dance Party, this is a pretty long playlist that I’m constantly updating so if you want to listen with ease, I suggest sticking this playlist on Shuffle and letting it play out! I love this playlist, it’s my most listened to one and I have a lot of fun updating it.
My Favourite Dance Streams
HANAWins – Saturdays From 1am (GMT); streams archived for any-time rewatching
Dance along live with Hana to her playlist every weekend
INSOMNIAC – Daily Streams; streams archived for any-time rewatching
Insmoniac is currently live 24/7 streaming individual sets and past festival sets.
ClubRapture – Daily Streams; streams archived for any-time rewatching
ClubRapture is currently live 24/7 streaming individual sets; they’ve also been doing Stay Home sets to encourage people to party from home during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Artists For You To Check Out
Durante is a more recent find for me but I’ve been really enjoying his tracks on Spotify, you can also find him on Twitch under the same name.
I found Burns because I’m a big Sabrina Claudio fan too, and he made a song with her and A$AP Rocky that I was addicted to last year, another impeccable discography for you to check out
If you’re English and listen to the radio, you’ve definitely heard of Disclosure through their track Latch with Sam Smith, I’ve definitely enjoyed listening to them over the years and I think their discography is really tight.
Losing It was my jaaaam all Summer long last year and I always hear it on workout playlists, definitely give Fisher a listen for all the summer feels.
Resources I use to find new music
Shazam is great for if you’re watching a stream and want to know the name of a song without pestering the chat, I also like shazam if I’m in a store and a track comes on that I like.
- Spotify Radio
If you’re a spotify member you’ll probably notice that Spotify curate playlists for you based off what you listen to, pay attention to your playlists and radios to discover new music
- YouTube Playlists
If your usual streaming app isn’t touching up on what you like to listen to anymore or you’re struggling to discover something, I suggest looking on playlists made by YouTuber users, you may find music that you can’t find on streaming apps and will fall in love with new artists!
- Blog Posts
Like this one! I normally take to Google to find blog posts to find new music that I may not have discovered yet, this is normally the easiest way to find more lowkey artists as well, most of the time they also have pages on Spotify so it’s easy for me to add them to my playlist
Don’t forget about soundcloud where independent artists can upload their own music, including remixes, dance tracks and live sessions. I normally take to SoundCloud when I’m looking for something more specific and I never leave the app feeling disappointed.
So tell me: What’s your favourite song?
