Well well well, look who’s gone back to original Georgia Anne style content. I know, I know, I’ve been writing loads of think pieces over the last year but completely abandoned my love of music and stopped writing about it and even archived all of my old posts (still keeping it that way though, they were pretty bad TBH). But in light of my last post talking about wanting to enjoy my content again, I decided this is a good start – write about what and who you love!
Honestly 2020 has given me some amazing music already but a lot of the people I’m listening to also released music on the very back end of 2019, so they’re still super relevant and I’m really excited about them still.
Lately I’m very into electronic music and music that has a bit of a sci-fi feel to it, I’ve been listening to a lot of soundtracks thanks to this sudden new preference and have been really enjoying it to be honest, this probably is because it’s just something new for my ears and I’m enjoying having something fresh to listen to.
I think that music is one of the most valuable things in my life; I listen to music every single day even if it’s only for a short period of time or if it’s all day long, I’ve always felt like music gets me through everything and sets the tone for my day.
Grimes // Miss Anthropocene
One of my all time favourite artists is Grimes, she’s on my top 5 no question about it and I’ve been a fan since my teen years. Her last record was five whole years ago so I was really keen for Miss Anthropocene to come out. The album itself is really nice even though I was disappointed by the fact that she released half of it as singles so the album didn’t really hit quite as hard as it could have had she paced the singles out more after the release but it’s quickly becoming my favourite album that she’s released because I’ve got it on constantly.
HANA // Hanadriel
Hana is a more recent favourite of mine, I found her through Grimes when they released the AC!D REIGN CHRONICLES after Art Angels released and after then I’ve been really excited about her music. She doesn’t have loads of music out but she does have a couple EPs such as Hanadriel and HANA, she also featured on a recent anamanaguchi single – which she sounds awesome on by the way, I totally think she should do more rock style music since her voice suits it so well and she also featured on an EDM single by Tchami which I’ve had on repeat too. I really enjoy her as an artist though because she’s so different and definitely an underrated gem in the industry.
Tame Impala // DISCOGRAPHY
I’ve been listening to the Tame Impala discography a lot lately, I love their sound and I don’t think that they’ve released anything bad yet. I tend to listen to them a lot around this time of year because I enjoy the warm vibes that their music has, and it always puts me in a good mood.
GEE’S DANCE PARTY // My Playlist
The Euphoria OST
Okay seriously, one thing that Euphoria definitely did right besides *everything* is that it had a banging soundtrack; I loved listening to the soundtrack as I was watching the show and lately I’ve rediscovered it again, I’ve been listening to it pretty much daily. I was never a big Labrinth fan before but his score for the show is *amazing* and I’m not entirely sure if he curated the rest of the soundtrack or not but it’s introduced me to some really nice artists such as HARLOE. The playlist for the show is very up and down which I like a lot, plus I think some of the songs are good if you’re looking to get really pumped.
