Have you ever had an outfit planned, put it on and it’s straight up just missing something? That happens to me a lot – I’m the type of person that will plan an outfit in my mind the night before something, put it on and I always feel like it needs something else, or I need to totally start over. Well, I’ve found a solution to this feeling, because sometimes this issue is the sleeves, or lack-thereof. I’ve found Wingz.
When I was in Lisbon, I had planned to wear an outfit that was an all black Summer basics look. Then we lifted our heads, looked outside the window and the weather was none other than: overcast. My outfit? Ruined. Thanks weather! But was my outfit ruined, was it really?
I remembered that I had packed my Wingz with me, I had the intention of wearing them here anyway so I decided that the outfit that I had planned, my thin, all black basic look, was still a go. Only, now it had sleeves. When I first put them on I noticed that they did actually lift up my boobs a bit (this is always a bonus for me), and the sleeves were thick enough to keep my arms warm yet thin enough so that if the weather did pick up, I wasn’t going to be a sweaty mess. The weather did pick up too, and no, I was not a sweaty mess.
So What Exactly Are Wingz?
So by now you may have guessed it: Wingz are sleeves. They come in all sorts of materials and in different colours and styles and the intention of them is literally to spruce up your outfit or to make yourself feel better. I’m all about the body positivity life too, so if there’s something out there that’s going to make me feel fabulous on a day where I don’t feel as such, I’m all for it – I love the idea behind Wingz, I think it’s brilliant.
So… Do I like them?
Yes yes yes! I barely had to adjust them and they stayed in place all day which is great, and even when I was moving around even more for my photographs and trying out different poses I didn’t have an annoying game shuffling them, they looked exactly how I wanted them to look and stayed perfectly put. I was made in them! I also noticed that they survived being packed into my suitcase really well too, they didn’t crease at all and because of them literally being just sleeves, they were easy to fold and pack away without taking up any space inside of my suitcase. When I put them on, they matched the fabric of my cami really well and the colours matched great – which is hard with black because I feel like everywhere I go, the shade of black seems to never be the same! I definitely feel like Wingz are a great alternative to throwing on a jacket or cardigan, especially in the warmer seasons when you don’t really want to wear an additional layer on top of your outfit. I’m that person that once the weather brushes past 17 degrees, I’ll never be seen in a jacket, so I definitely think Wingz are a great match for me.
Other ways you can wear your Wingz
It was only after I had worn them when I realised how versatile these actually are, bought a dress and think it’s lacking something? Why not try putting a pair of chiffon Wingz underneath to see if it gives that added flare? Feeling like you want to channel your early 00’s Avril Lavigne skater vibes? Put a pair of Wingz underneath an oversized t-shirt and you’ll achieve that look effortlessly.
