I love photography, it’s something that brings me a great deal of joy and I have so much fun taking photographs of my surroundings, so I decided to expand my camera collection by one more camera, and introduce the FujiFilm Instax Mini to my collection. Keep reading to see my thoughts.
This camera is pretty easy to use, easy to set up and a great deal of fun to play with. I think that this camera isn’t one that you use daily unless you have loads of film, but it’s definitely one that you use to capture the moment with.
I decided I wanted an Instax Mini because frankly, I was seeing it all over instagram. My sister also has a pink one, and I liked how her polaroids looked in a photo frame she bought designed to showcase your polaroid pictures. I’ve also expressed before that I love having photos printed to keep, so that in 5, 10 or however many years from now, we can look back at them and see photos that we may have deleted from our social media pages. Photos we forgot about, and this camera is the perfect one for giving me just that.
I bought mine off Amazon, and I understand that FujiFilm are intending on releasing a “fresher” version of this camera later on this year, but I just wanted one for now and I honestly don’t care about an added selfie mirror, and this was going for a good price so I’d be silly to not get it.
Setting it up was so straight forward, but I did need to read the manual to make sure I was doing it correctly because there is nothing worse than spending money on something just to break it the day you get it. The first photograph I took was in a dark lit room in my house, it was of my sister so I let her keep that photo, and the next few were of my dog Effie, and the following day when the sun was out, I let Mia take a photo of me.
To keep the pictures safe, I also bought a little photo album for the polaroids to go into, I already have a photo album but it’s for 6×4 photos and not small polaroids, so they’d definitely fall out. The photo album is adorable and it has lots of pages to keep my polaroids in.
This will definitely be a very expensive camera to keep, since film for it does get pricey, but I do also think that it’s worth it. Also, there’s frequent sales on a lot of websites for the film and I don’t need to buy film in bulk, just as I want it or need it. A camera like this does require a lot of dedication, and I’m looking forward to playing with it and taking photos that we can cringe at in a few years time.
I’ll be using this camera a lot and it’ll probably go with me to many places.
If you also have an Instax Mini, let me know!
